I have two hands,two legs,two eyes,two ears,I can co-ordinate them…actually, I am whole,living under a roof,clothed,not sleeping hungry….I have a family, not perfect I must say,but I have a place I can call home.Hmmm…the morning breeze,the sunshine, the swaying trees,it’s all fine….God has given me life,life not rented,air not borrowed or bought… He has gifted me extraordinarily.But,Sometimes…sometimes….I forget…we forget….

Rent to pay,a relationship to hold together, a family to restore, school fees…worries, worries and more worries.Let alone that,we have got goals…Achieve this and that before a certain age and in pursuit of these,we forget….we forget the priceless gift we have…The gift of life..This priceless gift we pay nothing for.

Elan Musk puts this so well…

“If you go back a few hundred years, what we take for granted today would seem like magic-being able to talk to people over long distances,to transmit images, flying, accessing vast amounts of data like an Oracle. These are things that would have been considered magic a few hundred years ago.”

Look at that!I personally, have not given technology a second thought, but come to think of it!Families, friends ,businesses etc are brought together by this powerful invention! Something worth being grateful for don’t you think?

Think about time.Time is a gift as early as you wake up and as late as you go to bed or vice versa. It is a gift.24 hours each day for each one of us to make things right,to be creative…24 hours to make a difference. Wow!It is indeed a gift, looking at it from that angle.Give thanks!

There are people I observe and wonder how they can afford a smile. How do they do it?…What is their secret?…Then I remember…Purpose!

Allow me to give you a perfect example…

From an early age,Nick Vujicic knew that he was different.Much later, after overcoming ignorance and discrimination to build what he termed a ‘ridiculously good’ life he realized his mission:to use his ‘disability’ to start conversations that change lives.Since then, he has spoken over 3000 times in a total of more than 57 countries on varying topics like bullying, inspiring positive change, persistence and determination and his own life story.Touching!

Nick intentionally chose to live a ‘ridiculously good’ life in the midst of a ‘ridiculously bad’ circumstance. His mission was birthed from a state of disillusion. Wow!

I like the message he spreads across the world…No matter your circumstance, you can overcome.

Do not let your worries, goals and anxieties crowd your vision and eventually blind you from being thankful. The one leper healed by Jesus remembered to thank Jesus. He chose not to take another chance at life for granted(See Luke 17:11-19)

In Psalms 9:1,David exemplifies this so well when he says, “I will give thanks to you Lord with all my heart;I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”

Life, love, family, strength, health, time!…I mean the list is endless! With all our hearts like David, let us purposefully give God thanks.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:18,Paul admonishes us to “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”…It is God’s will for you and I to give thanks in all circumstances.

His greatness,His love,His kindness, compassion and graciousness through all generations deserves our gratitude. Can you imagine this?He causes the rain to fall on both the evil and good…If it were up to us we would have discriminated against the people we do not get along with😁

Make life beautiful by not taking anything for granted.Look at your beautiful child making those admirable milestones…the child you conceived is no mistake…Don’t complain.Give God thanks! That life is a gift freely given.

It has been quite a while since I ended with a quote. This one really challenged me…

The more often we see the things around us-even the beautiful and wonderful things-the more they become invisible to us.That is why we often take for granted the beauty of this world, the flowers, the trees, the birds, the clouds-even those we love.Because we see things so often, we see them less and less.

Joseph B Wirthlin

Think about this.Thanksgiving should be a lifestyle.

Have a thankful week. Live thankfully.

It is magically beautiful.

Before I go…watch Phil Wickhams’ beautiful song below reminding us to be grateful.☺
