I want that kind of passion…Everything might be falling apart including ones’ own life but…there is that pillar still standing tall to lean over…the.only.pillar…I want that kind of passion…to stare death in the face and confidently say… ‘Where,oh death is your sting!’…I want that passion…One leg missing or both, one hand missing or both, paralyzed waist down, sight failing, hearing failing but…I will still get there because…nothing can separate me…I want that passion…with GREAT PASSION and ZEAL.I.Want.it…At the end of the day He will say…
A few days ago I had a ‘worship experience’ with a friend of mine very late into the night.I was knocked out by sleep at 1am the next day.The presence of God was so real that night…can you imagine we sang a variety of songs to God over the phone?!…Thank God for technology! In your car,in the kitchen,at work,in the market place…Gods’ presence is every where.
In the midst of the many songs we sang together that night, one song stood out.I have heard this song over and over again until it became just an ‘ordinary’ worship song until that night.Matt Redmans’ 10000 reasons. My friend shared a story with me of a guy who performed this song live at the church he attends using a guitar and he sang so beautifully and passionately, revealing to me that he was a HIV+(Positive) patient. That is when that song actually hit me afresh!
This person presented to me by my friend awakened my senses to so many thoughts. His zeal for God was remarkably awe-inspiring.The position his health was in could not stop him from Blessing the Lords’ Name.He was more than willing to ‘sing like NEVER before’…
Before…we are in our comfort zones,we are okay, nothing to worry about…Before…we indulge and engage in what the world has to offer…Before…God is but a shadow,an ideology,a passing cloud…In the trials, what happens?…Further and further away we move from God.When we stare death in the face, our energy is sapped,we don’t have the strength to sing, instead in the trial…We whine, gramble and live in despondency and despair.Fear becomes a part of our daily lives…
Look at this young man…The scenario exposes the fact that, despite his HIV+ state,he chooses to not just listen to this song by Matt Redmann but perform it live. Why didn’t he choose any other worship song?Because he is confident in the fact that, when his strength is failing and the end is drawing near and his time has come,he will still sing praise to the Lord, unending…not just now for fame and all that, forevermore!
I thought he is still alive but my friend burst my bubble and informed me that he passed on early this year.I was deeply moved but at the same time my heart was glad because he indeed sang that song, having more than 10000 reasons to and forevermore he will keep singing this song…He is at a better place now.
…he will still sing praise to the Lord, unending…not just now for fame and all that, but forevermore!
The evening came,it was so dark around him but he kept singing to his Creator,He knew that it was time to sing His song in that dark hour.
David says, “Why are you cast down,O my soul and why are you in turmoil within me?Hope in God;for I shall praise him,my salvation and my God.” (Psalms 42:5,11;Psalms 43:5)
Job says, “For there is hope for a tree,if it be cut down, that it will sprout again and that its’ shoots will not cease.” (Job 14:7)
Ups and downs are a part of life. The Christian is not exempt and Christ was crystal clear about this.In John 16:33 He says, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart;I have overcome the world.”
Where is your hope?…In man?…treasures?…a god?…Where is your hope?…All these will fade away, man will turn their backs on you but God will not do that…NOT ONCE!
Romans 12:12 says, “Rejoice in hope,be patient in tribulation,be constant in prayer.” In trials and hardships be patient, rejoicing in hope and be consistent in prayer because it is through prayer that we gather the strength to pull through in our dark times.
Put your hope in God alone because then ,your Soul is uplifted and you sing despite and inspite and that tree sprouts,it blossoms and blooms because hope in God is moisture in itself. At the end of it all, whatever you face cannot separate you from His love and soon and very soon,He will receive you in His gentle arms look you in the face and say with a warm smile, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Put your hope in God alone.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.(Romans 8:37-39).
Would you be confident enough to say,
And I’ll praise you in this storm
And I will lift my hands
That you are who you are
No matter where I am
And every tear I’ve cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise you in this storm(Casting Crowns)
Have an amazing week full of hope in God alone.
