A story is told of a judge, famous for the way he impartially interpreted the law.One day,he faced the hardest case ever…a case against his own son!Everyone was watching. The judge quietly listened to all the heart wrenching testimonies and evidence. Finally, with tears in his eyes,he pronounced a just sentence, “Guilty on all accounts!” All were amazed.Their amazement deepened further when the judge took off his robe, walked across the courtroom to his son’s chair, offered his hands to the policeman and said, “Let him go!Take me instead,I will face the consequences on his behalf!” (Adapted from Mizizi book)

The judge became the judged and he condemned himself to a lifestyle we cannot imagine of,for the sake of his son!Behold what manner of love!!!

Many a times in our day to day walk,we experience moments of utter condemnation.Nothing seems to sooth our condemned spirits, but think about this,The Father took it all in your stead!Do we struggle?Yes!Do we at times live in doubt and loneliness?Oh yes we do!But the most important thing to remember is,in our place as his children,he took them.Like the Father in the excerpt above,he chose to hand Himself in!I don’t know about you,but as for me,this blows my mind away.Am I living a perfect sin-free life? Not at all, infact in Romans 3:10,the Bible says, “There is no one righteous, not even one…” Not even one is righteous! but guess what…

Romans 3:21-25, “But now a righteousness from God,apart from law,has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement through faith in His blood. He did this to demonstrate His Justice, because in his forbearance,he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished…”

No one is righteous…ahaaa but then Paul brings to our attention the fact that there is a righteousness from God,apart from the law(works),which comes through faith to all who believe. That’s the condition to receive this righteousness from God;Have faith in God and believe that you have received this God-kind of righteousness!

It is liberating to believe. It is liberating to have faith in God,it is even more liberating to live a life free of condemnation because one is in Christ!(Romans 8:1-2)

I came across a quote by John Scott that blew my mind…He says,

“In the beginning God”… The first four words in the Bible are more than an introduction to the creation story or to the book of Genesis. They supply the key which opens our understanding to the Bible as a whole. They tell us that the religion of the Bible is a religion of the initiative of God.You can never take God by surprise. You can never anticipate Him.He always makes the first move.He is always there, ‘in the beginning’.Before man existed,God acted. Before man stirs himself to seek God,God has sought man.In the Bible,we do not see man groping after God;we see God reaching after man.”

This reminds me of the story of Adam and Eve,in Genesis 3:21, God clothed them despite their rebellion. He would have chosen to kill them instead and create another Adam and Eve!See how far Grace goes!!!I am also reminded of the story of the prodigal son,the Father called for a feast for His long lost son!He would have just chased Him away!I am also reminded of the shepherd who went looking for the one lost sheep and yet he had 99!…My goodness! See???…This is how far grace goes!

God is looking for you.He always makes the first move.Would you take this opportunity He is offering you to have faith in Him and believe? He desires for you to partake of this righteousness…Please pray this simple prayer after me?

“Dear God,I choose to see the love so reckless,so undying that always reaches out to me even when I am on the run.God,I must confess the sins I have committed in word, deed and attitude and I ask for your forgiveness this day.Would you Oh God write my name in the book of life and help me believe and have faith in your saving Grace and if ever I lose my way or forget your grace, remind me oh God of the price you paid.Thank you Lord for calling me your friend.

He is lifted up,He is full of Grace and Mercy, above all,He always makes the first move.Choose to see!

God bless.
