“Mommy, please remember to bring me that sweet…Daddy, please do not forget to bring the toy car we saw last time…Babe, please remember to take out the trash!…Remember mercy Oh God!…Please remember your doctors’ appointment…”

These are random combined phrases fished from the top of my head and quite common too! One thing appears severally in each phrase, one word stands out…Remember. Every now and then, we hope and pray that special days like anniversaries, birthdays, graduations are remembered by those we value most and as soon as the act of remembrance happens, an action is performed…Goes without say. Where am I headed with all this “remembering” issue.  Stay with me.

I must confess, I am not very good at journaling. I will purpose to start and leave it half-way, I guess I was just not wired to journal, which is sad, but it is the most powerful tool of remembrance. Moments of joy, pain…are hidden  and well preserved in the journal which I know most of you keep. Having to go back maybe a few months or days and check through what you wrote brings about great emotion and sometimes even moves one to tears, then to ones knees! I love the concept of journaling because then one is able to literally count his or her blessings.

The Bible is the perfect example of a journal, divinely inspired, recording events that blow our minds off, spanning ages and ages and transversing years! That is how we get to always remember the faithfulness of God. So going through this journal wth a couple of friends, we stumbled upon a man and this man was called Mr Noah, who built the huge ark and animals went in two by two…that nursery rhyme!

Who was this man? Before the sight of God, he was righteous, blameless and faithful. No wonder God spared Him from the floods.Everything on the earth was destroyed but Noah was spared. See the power of upright living!…Long story short, after 150 days, God remembered Noah and all the animals and livestock that were with Him and Noah eventually came out of the ark…(See Genesis 8)
“I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth.  I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:  I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.  Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. ( See Genesis 9)

Whenever God remembers, He performs. It is like He ties Himself to His very own words and has absolutely no choice but to do that which He says. God remembered Noah and delivered Him from the flood, He remembered Sarah,Hannah, Rachel and opened their wombs! He remembered the children of Israel and delivered them from the hands of Pharaoh. Closer home, He remembered me in my low estate, I was lost, beaten and bruised but he found me! My goodness when God remembers!

I will remember my covenant

Corona Virus has shaken the world to the very core.Could this be ‘the flood’ of our day and time? He will remember us! He will turn this whole pandemic around. I am hopeful and I hope you are too! I love what 3 John 2 says, Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.”  God is not wicked and malicious. He desires the very best of each and every one of us. I mean what kind of father would laugh when the child is in great pain?

When God remembers, He performs.

Surely there is an end!

Have a blessed week ahead and thank you so much for stopping by!

To all the fathers, soon to be fathers and aspiring fathers, I celebrate you! Happy Happy Fathers day!!
