Are you doing what you love? Let’s take stock for a minute shall we?…
Do you look forward to another day?
Are your energy levels stable throughout the day?
How are your relationships, is your work getting the best of you at their expense?
Are you always reminded to accomplish a task (s)? Are you motivated by what you do?
Any sense of fulfillment or accomplishment at the end of the day?
Are your Monday’s blue?😆
Talking about love this month, I cannot forget to mention passion and purpose. Loving what we do from day to day is key to living a life of fulfillment and excitement! Remember, we only have one life to live, it is no rehearsal! Let’s get into scripture for a bit… John 10:10(New Living Translation) says,
“The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
Much as the context of this scripture is mainly about false teachings and the fact that we should know the voice of the good shepherd, same case applies to our career lives…There are so many voices out there, social media, your parents, your friends, your circumstances, your job, your qualifications…The list is endless! All these voices can easily break you if they are not in line with the voice of the Good shepherd; They steal your joy, kill your dreams and eventually destroy you altogether. The Good shepherd has one main purpose for us as we pursue our dreams and careers… To give us a rich and satisfying life. That’s it! That’s the benchmark! When we say rich and satisfying especially in light of what we do, we have markers:
Fulfillment: When you love what you do you are always fulfilled. Someone once wrote, “Do not miss out on life by doing what you do not love.” At the end of the day, you get to enjoy life to the fullest… That is rich and satisfying right?😉
Inspiration: You will be amazed how many people you inspire and steer towards their dreams by pursuing your passion or doing what you really love. They are many! Who doesn’t love to inspire action and desire in someone else’s life? I do😄
Improved health: Having a job is not bad to be honest, but there are systems and rules governing that job and so you are still restricted to a point. You cannot freely express yourself as you wish because you subscribe to certain values and principles and rules! If you are not happy doing what you do, stress results and health issues cannot be avoided! Interesting fact I came across, “The most common time for a heart attack to occur is a Monday Morning!” 🤔
Productivity: It goes without say that when you love what you do, you become more efficient and self-motivated, meaning your productivity increases. It is very easy to detect performance void of passion. Your boss or supervisor knows this…😁
Improved relationships: If you have a bad day at work, it is very easy to direct your anger and frustration to your family at the end of the day, even your colleagues and friends. It is very easy. If you do what you love, regardless of how things turn out at the end of the day,you are able to maintain a positive attitude and have a happy disposition and people will definitely want to be around such a person right?😉
Success: The path to success begins when you travel along the road you love! No one will be watching your back always reminding you to accomplish tasks, or motivate you to reach your full potential. It becomes so natural to put your best foot forward. You will always seek for opportunities to learn and grow and your confidence is definitely boosted because you are doing what is natural for you, digging deeper into your interests and passions. Makes sense?🙂
If you experience all the above and more, maintaining your energy levels throughout your day, then you are where you are supposed to be, doing what you love and when you do what you love in line with Gods’ desire for you, you live a rich and satisfying life. RICH implying wholesome and all rounded not just financially but in every aspect of life. Are you doing what you love?
When it comes to pursuing your passion, three key things according to springboard need consideration:
Overcome barriers as you pursue your passion.
Passion is not random, it is harnessed and developed overtime.
Passion can lead us astray if not chanelled effectively. Recognize its limits before taking that risk.
This is a very wide topic, I had to break it down to a digestible piece and we will keep building up on it every third Thursday of the month. The reason for my writing this today, is to inspire you to action, being in that space, I completely relate with all this. Don’t be scared, yes it is easier said than done, that salary is your safe harbour, sail away, launch into the deep and pursue your passion…Pursue what you love.
I end with a quote I heard a certain internal auditor say in a talk show I love called Becoming CEO. She said, “He who has a ‘why’ to him, will bear with ‘anyhow.’
Thanks for stopping by! Remember to sail away from safe harbour!😉
